UPDATE: Check out the Official Launch at Custom Tees
In what is a first for a New Zealand fashion label, Auckland brand Illicit Clothing have pulled off the huge task of affiliating themselves with the world renowned American hip hop group The Wu-Tang Clan.
The freshly inked deal sees Illicit Clothing now licensed under the Wu-Tang brand throughout Australasia. No mean feat one would think for a relatively small label from Central Auckland. But Owner and Managing Director Steve Hodge says “the opportunity came via a French connection wanting help promoting an upcoming Wu-Tang book and art exhibition. As part of the deal we sought for Illicit to be officially licensed with Wu-Tang. They liked our stuff and accepted the deal. The rest is now history.”
The design team are already well underway with a new range to celebrate the newly formed collaboration. Plus pop up stores will be appearing in Auckland in November in preparation for the Christmas market. The entire ‘cut and sew’ range featuring their proven formula of hoodies, tees and track pants won’t be in stores till April next year.
