Lana Del Rey has just released the title track to her highly anticipated fourth studio album. The singer premiered her new song, “Lust for Life,” on BBC1 Radio 1, where she explained how the song came about. Del Rey says she knew the Weeknd’s vocals would be “perfect” for the track. The pair clearly have great musical chemistry as this is not the first time they have collaborated. Del Rey was featured on the R&B singer’s track “Prisoner,” on his hit album Beauty Behind the Madness in 2015 and on “Stargirl Interlude,’ from his follow up record Starboy in 2016. When creating, “Lust for Life,” Del Rey also enlisted the help of Swedish songwriter and producer, Max Martin, who suggested that Del Rey’s verse became the song’s chorus. As one of the most successful producers in the world, Martin has previously created hits for stars such as Britney Spears, Taylor Swift, Kelly Clarkson and Ariana Grande.
Even with the enlistment of mainstream pop hit makers, Del Rey stays true to her unique, distinct sound. With its smoky production, sensual vocals and vintage cultural references, “Lust for life,” is classic Lana Del Rey. The song is the second track to be released off her upcoming album, which does not yet have a release date. She says that most of the album will be focused on her life in Los Angeles and will address the current issues in America. Earlier this month she gave fans a glimpse into the album with the release of an album trailer on her youtube channel. Check it out below:
